‘briefly’

Today (Saturday) in about 13 hours, May and Dan arrive in Moroleon! And Daniel and I will be at the bus station to great them! hooray hooray hooray

AND

two nights ago (Thursday), I made my first hummus of Mexico! Who would believe it? I who made hummus approximately one to three times per week at the Unicorn, and ate hummus nearly every day for the past two years… My first hummus in over three months. oh and so delicious to me.

AND

I made the hummus from fresh garbanzo beans (so it was a GREEN hummus!!!)– the garbanzos were part roasted and part raw, and then I used sesame seeds (ajonjoli), grape seed oil (aceite semilla de uva), part of an orange bell pepper that we roasted, raw garlic (ajo), cumin seeds (comino), water and salt (agua y sal)…  yum yum.  And with it we ate a purple top turnip!  That we grew on our roof!  hooray hooray!

Daniel and I bought cincuenta pesos of fresh garbanzos recently.  Steadily and slowly in my perception, we are pulling the pods off the stems, separating the greens for the chickens, separating the stems for the compost, and shelling the garbanzos…oh what a process what a process.

speaking of chickens, I am fearful because we think one of them is sick and maybe dying.  We don’t know what to do.  also speaking of chickens, I am excited because one of the chickens has been brooding for about a week now– we will have baby chickies!  and baby roosters!  hooray.

  1. HAVE FUN with Dan and May! And, by the way, your hummus sounds delicious.

(The tuna salad I made today was pretty dope, if I do say so myself.)
