oh how time passes.   The first market was Saturday; our first harvest day was Friday.  At first sunlight (somewhere around 5:00 a.m., we began the harvesting in the greenhouses– with greens of broccolis and cabbages and kohlrabis, and arugula and lettuces for mesclun mixes and lettuces heads and beets, and in the field we harvested spinach and green onions and chives and rhubarb and radishes and golden frill and lamb’s quarters (quelites) and green garlic.  oh bliss of bliss and joy of joy.

And we gave away Tomato this weekend to my mom and my brothers and my dad.

And I am experiencing some relief.  Tunas and Nata play and sleep and play and sleep.  We have enough hands for them and energy for them.  And we are all feeling happy.  Although last night I felt sad sad.  Sad sad to see the sweet little girl tomato leave, my little love.  Tomato who weighed tres kilos the first time we weighed her (just over six pounds– it was a month and a half after she moved in with us, who now weighs 24.5 lbs!!  holy mole.  how she grows grows grows.  how they all grow grow grow

I have been as aware as I have of the roles of the choices I choose on my life.  And was considering regularly what it means to me to choose to take responsibility for these lives, to actively incorporate the lives of these puppies into my own.  scary and exciting, at times I feel angry, when I find myself considering things I would not have had to consider when making choices if I had not the puppies in my life.  Yet I remind myself that they are here and that is okay and that I take responsibility for my self and my actions and my choices.

And I am filled with air here and sunshine, and although at times the sun warms me differently than it warmed me in Mexico, I know that it the same sun.  and I feel joyful and sad too sometimes at this realization.

Today I have baked bread and made seitan, and have walked down to the field and harvested spinach and green onions for the meal I was to eat.  What a gift this is.  To grow and learn and feed myself with what I am actively growing and learning.
